David M. Solo
Chairman of the Board
Career: David is a Co-Founder and Chairman of SIMAG®, as well as of DCI, LLC, a San Francisco based quantitative credit fixed income manager serving institutional clients. From 2004 to 2014, he was the CEO of GAM AG, a leading European active fund manager, and between 2006 and 2009 was also CEO of Julius Baer Asset Management, when Bank Julius Baer acquired GAM, then later listed the enlarged asset management business on the Swiss Stock Exchange as GAM Holding. Beginning in 1991, David had a long career at UBS/SBC, serving as Head of the Global Rates Division, then deputy CEO and COO of the Global Investment Bank, then Chief Risk Officer and Member of the UBS Group Executive Board, and finally CEO of the private equity division, UBS Capital. Prior to this, David was a General Partner and member of the Executive Committee of O’Connor & Associates, the Chicago based pioneer of derivatives pricing and the application of technology to risk management, which was acquired by SBC in 1991.
Education & qualifications: David holds a MSc and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He held research posts at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory developing machine optimized search algorithms and at the Draper Defense Laboratory designing heterodyne fiber optic military communication systems.
